Installing Arch Linux on a VirtualBox VM (October 2018)

An updated copy of the the guide produced by Nick and Jim on installing Arch Linux on VirtualBox (PDF format).

The guide gives a recommended VM setup and step by step instructions for installing the Arch Linux base system, installing VirtualBox additions, installing the Xorg server and a desktop environment (Mate is used). The guide would also provide a basis for installation on physical hardware but you would need to install the appropriate graphics drivers instead of the VirtualBox ones.

Installing a Turnkey Linux appliance (September 2015)

As part of our introduction to web servers and PHP, we installed the Turnkey Linux LAMP appliance on some laptops. It's a similar process to install a Turnkey appliance as a VirtualBox virtual machine (VM)).

VirtualBox (July 2015)

Microsoft provide prebuilt virtual machines which let you run various version of Windows and Internet Exporer. Notes on installing and running a Windows VM under VirtualBox are available in PDF formatUpdated April 2016: revised guide in PDF format.
